As we approach Catholic Schools Week I find myself reflecting on just how much a Catholic education means to me. My love for Catholic schools goes way back to 1958 when I accompanied my mother to visit Sister Claire Maher, OP, the principal of Our Lady of Mercy grammar school in Daly City, California. Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2017 is January 29 - February 4.
