Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to update you on our plans for the 2020-21 school year. At this time our plan is to open
all of the Catholic Schools on August 17, 2020. The Re-opening Task Force is developing
Archdiocesan level guidance that all schools will follow. We are continuing to follow the guidance from the CDC as well as the governor of New Mexico. Each school has also been provided with a document titled “Leading With Hope” developed by the Andrew M. Greeley Center for Catholic Education-School of Education, Loyola University of Chicago that provides Catholic schools with a template for planning re-opening at the local school level. This document assists the schools in the areas of:
• Logistics and Planning
• Creating and Maintaining Community
• Curriculum and Instruction
• Promoting Catholic Identity
• Technology Support
We have developed some protocols based on the information we have today. We will be
adjusting these as the information changes and provide you with an update hopefully by the
middle of July.
I want to assure you that our goal is to have on campus education beginning on August 17, 2020 for all students who are comfortable returning to the classroom. We continue to pray for a vaccine to combat this virus as well as effective treatments. The health and safety of our students and staff are foremost in our minds. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Murphy
Superintendent of Catholic Schools
