As “Catholic Schools Week,” comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to our Holy Ghost Catholic School staff and volunteers for their dedication and passion under the erudite leadership of Principal, Noreen Duffy Copeland PhD, and Vice Principal, David Tichnell.
It is a well-established fact that through Roman Catholic education, young men and women are trained to become tomorrow’s leaders and successful contributors in our society and the Church. “It has been proven, without a doubt, that Roman Catholic schools produce students strongly dedicated to their faith, values, families and communities by providing an intellectually stimulating environment rich in spiritual character, and moral development.” (U.S. House of Representatives)
I am also very proud of the fact that, to date, Holy Ghost Catholic School remains the only Archdiocesan Catholic School in the state of New Mexico to have been selected (2009) by the U.S. Department of Education to receive its prestigious “Blue Ribbon Award” for excellence in education.
It truly is a blessing for me, personally, to be the pastor of such a remarkable “Blue Ribbon” parish school. I couldn’t be prouder of our students, staff, and volunteers. I also congratulate all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all family members who make great sacrifices so that our students may attend Holy Ghost Catholic School.
