2009 US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

Holy Ghost Catholic School is proud to be named a “Blue Ribbon School of Excellence” by the U.S. Department of Education.  The first criteria for this award in 2009 was for our 8th grade class to score in the   top 10% of all schools across the nation in math and reading, as measured on a standardized test, the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.  According to the parameters established for this award, private, non-public schools, including Holy Ghost School, are held to a higher standard than public schools.
 
As the only Catholic school in the state of New Mexico to have been awarded this honor, we share the following characteristics of excellence with top performing schools around the nation:

• we have teachers and administrators dedicated to high standards of learning for all students; 
• we engage in data collection to analyze the efficacy of instruction and assessment;
•  our students demonstrate consistent academic excellence;
•  and our staff undertakes professional development to stay at the forefront of best practices.

The Blue Ribbon Award celebrates the idea that all students, regardless of background or financial status deserves an excellent education.
